College Station Monthly Summary: March 2010

March was yet another month of colder than normal temperatures in the Brazos Valley, with maximum and minimum temperatures more than 3°F below normal. Rainfall for the entire month was just a tad below normal, which left the year-to-date precipitation just below normal, as well. March was the first month since November 2009 that did not see snowfall reported at Easterwood Airport. More than a half inch of rainfall was reported on the first day of the month, and the wettest day of the month was the 20th (0.89"). After a dreary and cool first week of the month, temperatures warmed up and skies cleared just in time for Spring Break. Students that hung around the Brazos Valley were treated to some wonderful weather, including a maximum temperature of 80°F on the 14th. However, the start of spring ushered in the coldest air of the month, with the minimum temperature of 34°F on the 21st the lowest reading of the month. March ended on a high note as temperatures warmed into the 80s on the 27th and again on the 31st, which had the highest maximum temperature of the month at 82°F.
