College Station Monthly Summary: May 2008

The first half of May was relatively cooler than normal, with temperatures below 85°F and nights as cool as 55°F. All the precipitation for the month was measured on or before the 15th. Only traces of precipitation could be found during the second half of the month, leading to a slightly below average monthly rainfall total of 4.30". The second half of the month saw more steady temperatures, with highs in the low to mid 90s and new records for highest minimum temperature for 3 consecutive days (22nd-24th). The month was slightly warmer than average. A 40 mph peak wind gust came with the gust front that moved in on the 27th, but brought only a trace of rain. Several near records for the month occurred, with below average temperatures during the first half of May and the above average high and low temperatures during the second half of May.
