College Station Monthly Summary: May 2009

For the first part of the month, temperatures remained very high, with the minimum temperature for 13 of the first 15 days reaching 70°F or higher. Little precipitation fell throughout the month and changed a surplus of rain for the year into a deficit, with only three days in May seeing measurable precipitation. The area also experienced very little severe weather during May, as evidenced by a maximum wind gust of only 33 mph. During the last half of May, temperatures dropped into the upper 70s for a couple of days as a cold front moved through Texas. Temperatures were milder as the month drew to a close. El Nino neutral conditions are expected to remain at least through the summer, as La Nina conditions have finally subsided.
