College Station Monthly Summary: September 2006

September 2006 was an average month in terms of temperature as the mean minimum temperature was almost exactly its normal value, and the overall monthly mean temperature was just 0.2°F below average. However, despite a few periods of heavy rain, the precipitation total was 1.22" below average, which was 69 percent of normal. Most of the rainfall for the month came in a three day span from the 16th-18th, when 2.27" of precipitation was reported, including 2.03" on the 18th, which was a daily rainfall record. Only one new temperature record was reported, which was a record high minimum temperature on the 22nd at 81°F. A strong squall line moved through the area on the 23rd, though there was no severe weather reported in the area. The system only produced precipitation along the frontal boundary, which resulted in a precipitation total of only 0.39". After this frontal boundary passed through, temperature cooled down for three days before warming back up into upper 80s and lower 90s.
