Texas Climate Report: June 2012
The month of June was once again hot and dry. Temperatures were above average for all of the state with the Panhandle and the western regions of the state recording the highest temperatures. The coastal bend saw unusually high temperatures this month as well, with a record-breaking heat caused by a high pressure system and a northerly flow pattern culminating on June 26, which saw record temperatures in Houston, which topped out at 105, as well as other cities in the area. Overall the month lacked rainfall as well, with most regions reporting a deficit for the month and several cities receiving no rain at all. Drought conditions worsened over the majority of the state, with Moderate Drought (D2) conditions creeping back east to Interstate 45.
