College Station Monthly Summary: April 1998

College Station experienced cooler than normal temperatures and dry conditions during April. After receiving only 35% of the normal monthly precipitation, annual totals have started to approach near normal values for 1998. Mean monthly temperatures were nearly 3°F below normal, mostly due to the anomalously low minimum temperatures observed across the Brazos Valley. The -4.8°F departure places the month's mean minimum temperature in the lowest decile of observations from Easterwood Field. The average minimum temperature of 51.7°F for the period between the 17th and the 30th is the lowest ever recorded for that two week period in College Station. This was highlighted by the month's only broken record on the 23rd.
