College Station Monthly Summary: April 2007

April started will a strong cold front combining with Gulf moisture to produce snowfall over most of the Brazos Valley on the 7th. The official report at Easterwood Field was a trace of snowfall, which was a record value for the date. It was also the latest snow has even been reported in Bryan/College Station. Colder than average temperatures were a trend for the entire month with a monthly average of 65.1°F, 2.8°F below normal. Also, 4 new records were set for both low maximum and minimum temperatures, on the 7th and 8th, as well as 4 near low minimum records. In fact, on the 7th and 8th, the average temperatures were 23.5°F and 23°F below average, respectively. As for precipitation, the number of rain days was 9, 2 days above normal, but the total precipitation for the month was 2.87", which was 0.33" below average. The 24-hour maximum rainfall was reported on the 30th as the outflow from a low pressure system in the panhandle produced severe storms with very heavy rainfall.
