College Station Monthly Summary: April 2009

April 2009 brought plentiful rainfall to College Station; in fact, the area recorded more rain this month than October 2008-February 2009 combined. During the past two months, College Station has received about as much precipitation as during the last half of 2008; for the first time in months, College Station has more year-to-date precipitation than average. Most rainfall events accompanied large systems that brought rain to many parts of Texas. Accordingly, the drought monitor has placed the northern half of Brazos County in the abnormally dry category and the southern half of Brazos County indicates no drought conditions. Temperatures remained relatively cool during the first part of the month, but southerly winds brought warmer Gulf air to the area during the last half of the month. Consequently, average temperatures ran slightly to moderately above normal.
