College Station Monthly Summary: April 2010

April 2010 brought warmer than normal temperatures to College Station daily mean temperatures above normal for the month. Things heated up as the month closed out, bringing the warmest high temperatures of April. On the 26th the maximum temperature was 89°F, the maximum temperature for the entire month. On the 8th, 9th the average temperature was almost 10°F below normal, including the minimum temperature of the month (40°F on the 9th). This month College Station had 11 days with precipitation (4 days more than normal), yet these days of rain totaled only 1.11". Easterwood Field was more than 2" short of the average rainfall for the month of April. On the 18th and 19th, a cold front came through the area dropping temperature about 10°F below normal and forced residents to bring back sweaters and jackets for one last appearance before the heat of late spring and summer set in. Several storms passed through the Brazos Valley towards the latter part of the month, bringing severe weather to the north of College Station, which stayed out of the path of any destructive weather.
