College Station Monthly Summary: August 2005

As far as rainfall was concerned, the month of August came in like a lion and went out like a lamb. All of the 3.26" of rainfall recorded in the month fell between the 1st and 15th of the month, with just a trace of precipitation the rest of the month. Even though the rainfall was confined to a couple weeks, College Station still exceeded its normal August total for precipitation. The bulk of the precipitation fell on the 10th, when 1.92" of rain was reported. Strong convection pushed through on the 2nd, causing damage just to the north in Robertson County, blowing trees down in Hearne. Most of August was a study in normalcy with regards to temperatures, with seemingly day after day of high temperatures in the middle 90s with lows in the middle 70s. Relief was provided temporarily on the 9th and 10th with temperatures only in the middle 80s, although this relief came with a price on the 10th. For the year, College Station is just a touch below average with 24.88" of precipitation.
