College Station Monthly Summary: August 2012

Much like the rest of Texas, College Station baked in the heat during the month of August. The city recorded 12 days with temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which is well above expected, with no high temperatures below 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Most of the rainfall that fell during the month was due to pop-up thunderstorms that would occur during the daytime heating hours, with some influence from a couple storm systems that passed through the state. Overall, the city saw a precipitation deficit for the month, short nearly an inch of rain, but due to the wet winter and spring the city is still at a six inch surplus for the year.
