College Station Monthly Summary: July 2003

The month of July was a warm and quite dry month in Texas. However, in the College Station area a monthly total of 4.05" was reported, which is 2.13" above normal. From the 3rd-11th, College Station received anywhere from 0.01" to 1.42" on eight of the nine days due to a convective pattern in the atmosphere. However College Station is still 1.73" below normal for the year. July brought 5 near record temperatures to the College Station area, many near record low maximum temperatures were attributed to the rain cooled air caused by showers and thunderstorms. The latter half of the month was quite consistent precipitation and temperature wise, with the exception of the 23rd, which had a high of 87°F reported. College Station has been quite lucky this summer as temperatures have not yet reached the century mark, which was reached numerous times last summer. A frontal system on the 23rd passed through the state which helped to keep humidity levels down slightly, and lowered temperatures by a few degrees as well. The month of July concluded with high temperatures in the upper 90s and lows in the mid 70s.
