College Station Monthly Summary: July 2008

The beginning of the month saw rather cool night lows, with lows near 70°F for the first several days. Highs for the first part of the month were right around average to slightly below average some days, generally in the mid 90s. However, as the month progressed, temperatures were on the increase and broke the 100°F-mark 6 times. Accompanying Hurricane Dolly were cooler temperatures, especially on the 24th where the high reached only 92°F. Yet, shortly thereafter, temperatures again rose over 100°F for 3 consecutive days. Needless to say, temperatures were above average, though factoring in some cooler minimum temperatures throughout the month, average temperatures especially early in the month are not far from normal. Rainfall followed the pattern of last month, totaling less than half an inch. Dolly was less than impressive in terms of a rainfall producer for College Station, as less than a tenth of an inch was recorded. It has been an unusually dry summer, with June and July precipitation totaling less than three-quarters of an inch.
