College Station Monthly Summary: July 2012

College Station experienced a normal month as far as temperatures go, but an extraordinary month for precipitation. The city recorded average highs and lows for the month within the normal range, yet compared to last summer the heat was not nearly as oppressive, for only two days were recorded with temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainfall was above normal for the month with measurable rainfall recorded on 11 days of the month, the majority of which were between July 8th and 16th when a shortwave system developed over southeast Texas and moved very slowly across the region. The total rainfall for the month was 4.56 inches, 2.42 inches above normal and enough to boost Brazos County out of drought conditions.
