College Station Monthly Summary: June 2001

The rainfall from tropical storm Allison, along with a couple of thunderstorms, brought the Bryan/College Station area 6.29" of rain for the month, which now puts the year-to-date rainfall total to 1.81" above average. The beginning of the month was warm, with average temperatures 2-9°F above normal, and the middle to latter part of June had average temperatures near or slightly below normal. A few temperature records were broken, including two low maximum temperatures on the 7th and 8th, with 80°F and 77°F respectively. A highest minimum temperature record was set on the 14th at 81°F. Tropical Strom Allison was the main weather producer for the month bringing rain and cooler temperatures from the 4th-8th, with precipitation amounts totaling 3.57" of rain. More rainfall and cooler temperatures were felt on the 15th and 21st as a pair of cold fronts progressed through the area.
