College Station Monthly Summary: June 2010

June 2010 in College Station was most notable for its very warm minimum temperatures and heavy rainfall. For the month, minimum temperatures were 4.4°F above normal at nearly 76°F, which is the highest June average in more than 100 years. Five days set or tied the record for highest minimum temperature on that date, including a three day stretch from the 11th through the 13th. Eleven other days had minimum temperatures that were nearly daily records. The total precipitation for June at Easterwood Field was more than double the expected June average at 9.03" of rainfall. This brought the 2010 precipitation total to just 0.11" below average, after June began with a more than 5-inch rainfall deficit. Three separate calendar days had more than an inch of rainfall, including the 9th, when 4.27" of rain fell. This set the record for most precipitation recorded on a single calendar day at Easterwood Field during the month of June, with records dating back to 1952.
