College Station Monthly Summary: June 2011
College Station remembered June 2011 as a scorcher with sweltering maximum temperatures and warm minimum temperatures. Maximum temperatures closed the month with 6.6°F above normal at around 98°F, and ten days were in the triple digit realm. In fact, during the stretch of the 14th through the 21st, eight of those days were consecutively 100°F-plus. Four days set or tied the record for the highest minimum temperature on that date, and eight days set or tied records for highest maximum temperatures as well. On three of those days: 17th, 18th, and the 21st, both the highest minimum and highest maximum temperature records were set or tied. Nineteen other days followed a close second as they were awarded nearly daily records for highest minimum and highest maximum temperatures. June managed to maintain twenty-nine days of temperatures that exceeded 90°F. The only day that did not surpass the 90°F mark was the 22nd. On that day, a cold front ended the heat wave in Brazos County and spawned storms that provided 2.45" of rain at Easterwood Field. This set the record for the most daily precipitation on the 22nd. Only two other days recorded rainfall and June ended almost an inch below normal for the month.
