College Station Monthly Summary: March 2002

The average monthly temperature (59.1°F) was 2.5°F below normal in the Bryan/College Station area for the month of March. The beginning of the month saw record low temperatures with the passage of a strong cold front. In fact, the new record low temperature for the month (17°F) was recorded on the 4th. Periodically through the month, temperatures soared well above average, with near record maximum temperatures 4 times. Although several days of rain were recorded, only small amounts of precipitation fell, accumulating to 0.88" for the monthly total. A strong cold front passed through the state and dropped temperatures to 17°F below average on the 22nd.
