College Station Monthly Summary: November 2001

After two straight months with below average mean monthly temperatures, the Brazos Valley experienced a return to above average temperatures during November 2001. November was extremely warm as the mean monthly temperature of 63.8°F was 4.0°F above average. Precipitation during the month was 0.27" below average, with only 2.88" recorded at Easterwood Field. This pushes the yearly total to 41.96", which is 5.71" above average. November began with abnormally warm autumn temperatures as Bryan/College Station recorded maximum temperatures of 80°F or higher during seven of the first eight days of the month. A weak cold front pushed through on the 8th, but temperatures quickly rebounded to the 80°F mark by the 13th. Precipitation on the 15th and 16th dropped high temperatures into the lower 70s, and another weak cold front pushed through on the 19th, dropping temperatures once more. At the end of the month, a strong cold front moved through on the 26th, dropping maximum temperatures into the 40s and brought the Brazos Valley its first freeze of the season.
