College Station Monthly Summary: November 2008

November 2008 brought a roller coaster of maximum and minimum temperatures to College Station. The first 6 days of the month saw very warm temperatures; the 5th of the month saw unusually warm temperatures, reaching 85°F and 65°F for the high and low. During the month, 8 days experienced departures from normal of 8°F or more. Four of those days were 12°F from average: 2 of those days were warm and 2 were cool. That is, when the month came to a close, despite some very warm temperatures on a majority of days, the mean temperature for the month was a mere 1.1°F above normal. Several cold fronts cooled the city several degrees below average to counteract the warmer temperatures which dominated the month. The city never reached the freezing mark during the month, though the minimum temperature plunged into the 30s three times. Rainfall came in small events during the month, with no single day recording at least half an inch. Precipitation woes continue for the area, being nearly 2" below average for the month and more than 6" in the hole for the year, though the College Station area is relatively wetter than other parts of Texas, like San Antonio and Austin.
