College Station Monthly Summary: November 2012

Temperatures were up and down all November with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s remaining persistent throughout the month. Short reprieves occurred from the passages of cold fronts on the 5th, 11th, and 26th, but overall the month was warm, with average monthly temperatures coming in at over 2 degrees above normal. Rainfall was scarce this November and the city recorded a 2.69 inch deficit. The majority of the rainfall that fell was on the 11th when a cold front passed the city dropping temperatures quickly and fired up a few storms along the frontal boundary. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Brazos County returned to official drought status moving from abnormally dry conditions to severe drought from the beginning to the end of the month. The Climate Prediction Center calls for further development of the drought over the next few months.
