College Station Monthly Summary: November 2013

November brought with it what seemed to be all four season. The first freeze was recorded on the 27th of the month and rain mixed with sleet and snow was falling on the 25th. The previous week felt more like late spring with temperatures rising into the 80s! This complete difference in temperature has been all due to the usual cold front arrivals that are expected in the Fall. The first cold front of this type came into town on the 12th and gave nearly all the Brazos Valley their first freeze. In the days leading up to the second cold front on the 22nd thunderstorms and rain showers developed and provided 1.14 inches of rain. The cold front on the 22nd had a long trailing stratiform rain region that provided most of the rain seen after the cold front passed.

The Brazos Valley remained out of the drought for the entire month of November with only abnormally dry conditions listed by the US Drought Monitor.
