College Station Monthly Summary: October 2009

October 2009 was the second straight month with abundant rainfall in Bryan/College Station and the rest of the Brazos Valley. The remnants of Hurricane Rick moved northward from the Pacific Ocean and its abundant moisture brought over two and a half inches of rainfall on the 26th. A second straight month of above normal rainfall brought the precipitation total for 2009 in College Station to only half an inch less than normal. Overall, Easterwood Airport recorded measurable precipitation on 15 of the 31 days in October. Average temperatures for the month were just a touch below normal, with the mean high temperature for the month nearly four degrees below normal. The high temperature on both the 10th and 11th was only 60°F, a stark contrast to the high of 93°F two days earlier on the 8th. The low temperature on the morning of the 8th was 81°F, which set a record for warmest ever October minimum temperature at Easterwood Airport.
