College Station Monthly Summary: September 2003

College Station was fortunate this month to experience fall-like temperatures, as the average maximum temperature for September was 85.4°F, which was 5.5°F below normal. September proved to be quite a wet month for College Station with a monthly precipitation total of 6.25", which was 2.34" above normal. At Easterwood Airport precipitation for the year-to-date stands at 32.09", just about three inches above normal. As a result of a cold front moving through the area on the 6th, a record low minimum of 61°F was reported on the 7th, which beat the record low temperature of 62°F from 1953. On the 11th, 2.12" of rain fell in a matter of a few hours in College Station, causing some very minor street flooding that quickly subsided. No severe weather was reported in the College Station area this month, but a wind gust of 43 mph was reported on the 11th in association with precipitation that fell during that evening. The month of September came to a close on a cool note with high temperatures in the upper 70s and lows in the 50s.
