College Station Monthly Summary: September 2010

Something very exciting happened during the month of September in College Station, and that something was that not a single daily maximum temperature reached 100°F after a brutally hot August. All daily maximum temperatures ranged from the middle 80s to the upper 90s. The highest maximum temperature was seen on the first day of the month with a temperature of 99°F, while the monthly minimum temperature was 55°F on the 28th. As fall officially began, the city of College Station felt the effects of a cold front and temperatures cooled. The month of September not only brought cooler temperatures but it also brought precipitation to the area. A total of 5.76" of rain fell this past month bringing the yearly total to 27.80". Two new daily maximum rainfall amount records were set this month. The first was set on the 7th when 2.17" of rain was recorded and the second was set on the 24th when 1.87" of rain fell. Three other records were set this month. All three records were for highest daily minimum temperature. The first was seen on the 1st of the month with a daily high minimum of 78°F beating the old record of 76°F set back in 2008. The other two daily high minimum records were set on the 9th and 12th.
